A heavy machine gunner fires a 50 cal at Taliban snipers concealed in an orchard 100 meters from his position.
Taliban snipers maneuver within 100 meters of a US Army position in Zhari District, Kandahar, Afghanistan. When they begin taking shots at the soldiers, they are met with a heavy volume of return fire from a 50 cal machine gun.
This is a prime example of firing at a concealed enemy. Just because you can’t see him, doesn’t mean he can’t see you.

This was A Co 1-502 Infantry’s combat outpost in the Zhari District of Kandahar. Taliban fighters would routinely attack their position from this orchard. The soldiers eventually got wise to where the snipers were firing from. So in the middle of the night, they put a 50 cal with clear sight lines to the orchard in place, and they waited.
Later in this same deployment, they would use C4 to blow down the wall you see the snipers using for cover.
